Login to the University network with your NinerNET account.
If you don't know the password, see the instructions below.
Remember!
When you change your password in PW Manager - you're changing the password for all University applications that use your NinerNET account.
Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for backing up any files you store on your H:\ drive to an alternate data source such as a CD, DVD or thumb drive. Check the information for the PCs and iMacs in the Student Computing labs to find the location of CD-RW and DVD-RW disc drives.
Understand the NinerNET Account Retention Policy for your NinerNET account.
If you are accessing the University network through a wired or wireless connection, you are also responsible installing the virus protection that the University provides. Read the University policies and understand network security, including what not to share.
Your H:\ Drive
Login on Campus
Login to the University network with your NinerNET account in the Student Computing labs
on campus to access and save files on your H:\ drive. You have 200MB of file storage space on H:\.
- Login with your NinerNET account.
- Double-click the My Computer icon.
- The H:\ drive is listed beside your User Name.
- Double-click the H:\ drive icon to access and create folders and to store files.
- Click Start, then Log Off to logout of Novell and prevent unauthorized access to your files.
Login from Home
You can access your H:\ drive from an Internet connected computer using remote file access.
Backup Your H:\ Drive
At the end of each semester, you are encouraged to backup the personal data on
your H:\ drive to an alternate data source such as a CD, DVD or thumb drive. Check the information for the PCs and iMacs in the Student Computing labs to find the location of CD-RW and DVD-RW disc drives.

Publishing Web Pages
Find out what you need to build a simple web page and upload it to your
H:\ drive. Go to http://webpages.uncc.edu/~username/index.html to view your web pages.
To publish your web pages on the University network:
- Copy your web files to the public_html folder on your H:\ drive.
- Create the public_html folder if it doesn't exist (lowercase letters).
- Name your main page index.html.
- Go to http://webpages.uncc.edu/~username/index.html to view your page.
Student web space in the H:\ drive's public_html folder does not
support dynamic page formats such as ASP, CGI, JSP or servlets. There are no plans to provide
support for these formats in the immediate future.

Remote File Access
NetStorage allows you to access the files on
your H:\ drive from a web browser by logging in to https://webf.uncc.edu with your NinerNET account. You can edit, copy, rename and move files and directories. Get more information on how to use NetStorage. A broadband connection is suggested.

Internet Explorer (PC)
Internet Explorer 7 users will need to make the following configuration change:
- In IE7, go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab.
- Under the Security section, check Use SSL 2.0 and Use SSL 3.0
Firefox (PC, Mac)
Firefox users will need to type the complete URL - https://webf.uncc.edu
Safari
Safari prevents access and is incompatible with NetStorage.

Are you logged into the University network on campus? If so, you don't need NetStorage, you already have direct access to the files on your H:\ drive by clicking My Computer.
