Password Manager (PW Manager) is a web-based tool that allows you to change or reset the password for your NinerNET account. When you change your password in PW Manager, you change your NinerNET account password for many University applications.

Using PW Manager

Activate Your NinerNET Account (First Time Users)
1.		PW Manager is located at https://pwmanager.uncc.edu.
2.		Activate your NinerNET account.
3.		Set up 6 security questions and answers that can be used with the self service password reset feature within PW Manager in case you forget your password in the future.
4.		Create your password. When you've successfully created your NinerNET password, you will receive your NinerNET User Name and your account will be active.

Change Your NinerNET Password
1.		Go to PW Manager at https://pwmanager.uncc.edu.
2.		Login with your NinerNET account.
3.		Click Change Password.

Forgot Your NinerNET Password?
1.		Go to PW Manager and enter your User Name.
2.		Click Forgot Your Password? and answer your security questions.

To prevent brute force attacks on the system, users will be locked out of PW Manager for 15 minutes after three failed login attempts.

Password Rules & Security Questions

PW Manager encourages the use of a strong password so that you can keep your NinerNET account secure.

Minimum length:

8 characters

Maximum length:

16 characters

Not Available:

Your last name, first name, email address, or the words "pass" or "word" as part of your password.

Required characters:

One lower case alphabetic character
One upper case alphabetic character
One numeric character
One special character from the set ! * + - / _

Password history:

8 (cannot reuse last 8 passwords)

Note:

You cannot change your password more than two times in a 24-hour period.
Changing the case (upper/lower) in your password, doesn't constitute a password change.

Security Question Tips

Answer 6 or more questions during setup.
You’ll be required to answer at least 3 if you forget your password.
Avoid spaces and punctuation in your answers.
Login to PW Manager and update your answers periodically.

Expired Password

Your password will expire every 180 days.

PW Manager will notify you by email when your password is about to expire. The messages will be delivered 15 days prior to the expiration time and will be repeated at the following intervals -- 10, 8, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 days -- or until the password has been changed.

When your password is changed, you will be notified by an email message. If you receive such a message and did not change the password for your account, you should notify the Student Computing Help Center immediately by visiting Barnard, calling 704-687-6400 or by submitting an incident to the HelpDesk Online.
