Can I auto-forward my email?

The option to auto-forward email to a personal email address is not available in Outlook Web Access. You can access your University email two ways, by logging in to 49er Express and clicking the Email icon or by logging in at https://unccmail.uncc.edu.

Auto-forwarding University email from our mail servers to off-campus mail servers
also creates many security risks, such as:

  • Creating the potential for our mail server to look like an open-relay.
  • Putting the University at greater risk of being placed on SPAMming black-lists. Many organizations (including UNC Charlotte) use this method to reject known SPAMmers.
  • Creating email loops, as well as causing the mail system to process the same messages twice. This places a severe load on our servers.
  • Creating the potential for sensitive data (included in an email) to be pushed to a non-University server.
  • Creating possible legal issues by sending official University correspondence to a non-University server.
